Yanira Lopez is a multidisciplinary artist born in Havana, Cuba.
At a young age Yanira attended a prestigious Havana art school that cemented her skills and appreciation for art.
While majoring in communications at Havana’s university she began researching Cuban syncretism and its
manifestation through Cuban art, religion and folklore.
Her upbringing in the Caribbean combined with her personal experiences as a political refugee influenced her
interest in exploring themes of identity, sense of belonging and self renewal.
Yanira currently lives and works in Miami, Florida
Alexis Oliva is a multidisciplinary artist born in Havana, Cuba currently based in South Florida.
His current work is inspired by modernist geometric abstraction as well as Cuban modernist architecture.
In 1997, shortly after graduating Havana’s University majoring in English language, he migrated to the USA.
In 2015, he co-founded Yerbamala Studio as a collective with his partner and fellow artist Yanira Lopez. The studio specializes in large-scale fiber art and site specific installations for hospitality and commercial spaces.
